As the war continues in Ukraine there are many horrifying stories that are heard about the atrocities of Russian soldiers on Ukrainian women. News of Ukrainian women being harassed, sexually assaulted and raped has been making the rounds. Ukrainian women are at that stage where they need to learn how to defend themselves against Russian soldiers. They need to keep themselves safe and protected against assaults.

Here are 3 self defense moves that women can teach themselves in order to handle the worst of situations:

Attack the groin

There is no doubt that this is the most vulnerable and sensitive area for a man. Attacking this part is an effective way to slow and injure an attacker. If your hands are tied use your knees to carry out this attack.

Carry a pointy object

In unsafe times like wars and places where you feel particularly threatened it is best to carry a weapon or a pointy object that you can use to attack. This can be a knife, safety pin or even  keys. Hold the pointy object in your fist and thrust it into the attacker. This move is also known as a Hammer strike.

Palm-Heel Strike

This move is useful when you can reach the attacker’s face and involves using the palm to strike. It can prove to be more effective than a punch. To carry out a Palm-Heel Strike, keep your hands open with fingers pointing upwards, flex the fingers back and hit through the heel of your palm.
