Stretching has so many benefits especially if you do it every day and make it a routine. These include improving balance, making the body more flexible, relieving muscle tension, improving posture, and increasing blood flow to the body.
It only takes a few minutes to practice stretching exercises and you don’t need to join a gym to do so. Stretching can reduce stress and anxiety apart from taking out the tension in your muscles. It helps to tone the body and you might even burn a few calories.
Here are some stretches that you can do every day:
DOWNWARD DOG
This pose must be familiar to people who are practicing yoga. Lean down with both your hands with your head and hands on the floor. Feel the stretch in your legs, hands, and back.
CHILD’S POSE
This stretching pose relaxes the back and arms. Sit on the floor and then stretch forward till your forehead touches the ground.

Standing Calf Stretch
Hold a chair, table, or any steady surface or you can simply put your palms against the wall. Stretch one leg all the way back. Alternate with the other leg. The leg that is not stretching should be bent.
Cat Stretch
While doing the cat stretch, focus on your breathing to truly relax the body and the muscles. It helps in toning the body too. To practice, this pose inhale and tilt your pelvis back then exhale and tuck your tailbone in.
(Please note if you are suffering from health issues consult a doctor before you start stretching.)
