Did you know cooling down after a workout is as important as warming up before a workout? Instead of heading towards the shower post-workout, you need to take some time to cool down your body.

When you are doing a high-intensity workout, cardio, or running, you must first slow down to transition towards rest. Here are the simplest and most effective after-workout cool-down exercises you might want to try.

Shoulder Stretches

You can do this while sitting or standing. Stretch your one arm till your hand reaches your neck or spine. Use the other hand to push the stretched arm from the elbow slightly. Keep your head and back straight. Hold this position for a few seconds and repeat with the other arm.

Spinal Twists

You can do this exercise standing, sitting, or lying on the floor. Stand straight with your head, neck, and back aligned. Keep a little distance between the legs. Slightly twist your upper part of the body from your head down to the back. Use your arms to hold your twisted position, wait for a while and relax.

Light Jogging

You can do light walking or jogging to slow down heavy breathing after cardio or running. You do not even need to move from your spot. Stay in the same place and jog for a couple of minutes.

Deep Breathing

The easiest exercise on the list is deep breathing. Stand or sit straight. Take a deep breath in, hold it, and release it. Repeating it a few times normalizes your breathing quickly. You can repeat it as long as you want.

Through these simple exercises, you can quickly recover from workout strains. It will relax your muscles and bring your heartbeat to be normal.
