The world is full of toxic people, and, unfortunately, it is not always possible to avoid communicating with them. Yet, there are some tips on how to get the less possible effect from talking to a person that makes you feel drained after your conversation. Let’s go over the most effective ones to make your life easier and brighter.

Do not play into their reality
You see, some people think they are always a victim in a particular situation. They tend to tell how painful they feel right now and how everybody around is wrong, but they are right. Do not get seduced. Do not plat into their reality since this will make you look like you support them. Instead, try to show your perspective and explain your point of view politely. Of course, this might upset them. But, on the flip side, they won’t have a desire to involve you once again.
Do not show your emotions
Toxic people enjoy making other people upset, even if they do not do it directly and obviously. The next time they tell you something hurtful, do not rush to show your emotions. Try to stay cold and calm, or even ignore them. Keep in mind that your pain is the toxic person’s happiness.
Talk to them about their genuine behavior
Often people who gossip and manipulate other people do not notice how toxic they are. If you are honest with them and tell them that their behavior may hurt or affect someone, there is a chance they will realize it and stop being that toxic. Or at least they will realize their behavior is unpleasant for you.
Put yourself first
Sometimes, a toxic person might not hurt you. They simply can always demand your help and constant attention. Every time you see each other, this person is in some trouble, they are always taking, while you are always giving. You feel like their mental state depends on you, and you are responsible for their life. In such cases, do not forget to put yourself first. Help yourself, not them. Treat yourself, not them. Take care of your emotional state, not theirs.
