It is 2022 and you may have come across the word ‘vegan’ or met someone who is. People who are vegan eat nothing that is derived from animals. This includes not eating meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, honey and dairy products. In today's day and age, it is quite easy to follow a vegan diet. There are options for vegan pizza and burgers too! Many restaurants also have vegan menus.

Why do people want to lead this kind of plant-based lifestyle? Going vegan has a lot of health benefits such as lower blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and reduced rates of heart disease. Another reason is due to religious or spiritual concerns where people believe that animals and their products should not be eaten. Some people also prefer to follow a vegan diet because their bodies don’t react well to consuming animal products.

On the flip side, recent research has shown that meat is also very important for the body. Meat contains protein and people who follow a vegan diet have a risk of not getting enough protein that is required. Protein is a very important building block that the body needs for growth. It is especially important for children and pregnant women.

Overall, being a vegan is quite healthy as it leads to consumption of large amounts of greens and fruits that are generally healthy and should be a part of your daily diet anyway. Apart from health benefits, people who are vegan have reported improved skin, better moods, more energy, greater digestion, and better immunity. Adding food items that can cover all the nutrients your body needs including protein, makes a vegan diet ideal.
