Fitness enthusiasts pay a lot of attention to workout details such as the type of workout they should do, the time they should exercise for, and what they should eat before working out. However, less attention is paid to what is eaten after exercise. Do you know that a post-workout meal is as important as a pre-workout meal? The full benefits of a workout are achieved when everything is properly taken care of; a pre-workout snack, the exercise, and the post-workout meal.
It’s important to eat the right kind of food after exercise to help your body recover from exercise, keep you hydrated, strengthen muscles, and also aid in weight loss. While it is common sense not to eat a Mcdonalds' meal after a workout, eating a well-balanced meal is important which many people don’t pay emphasis on.

After a workout make sure you have plenty of water or any kind of fluids to replenish the lost water from your body that happens while sweating. Your post-workout meal should be consumed within two hours after the workout to help restore muscles and replace glycogen in them for recovery.
Ideally, your food portion should be consistent with the time and intensity you worked out for. If you went for a brisk walk have a small snack like fruits but if you spent one hour at the gym doing vigorous exercise you can have a proper meal with a balanced serving of carbohydrates and protein. Include boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, a salad, or a smoothie in your post-workout meals to stay healthy.
