When it comes to achieving your goals, such as weight loss or even weight gain, you shouldn’t scale yourself that often. And there are solid reasons why. The first one is that it can be provoking, especially if you suffer from eating disorders. What’s more, you don’t have to scale yourself every day to achieve the desired results...

You see, every person experiences daily weight fluctuations. It’s when your weight alters during the day. The reason? Well, mainly, it's water retention, which is the key thing that makes our weight change during the day. What’s more, eating, exercising, going to the toilet, etc. also impact our weight. And when you scale yourself every day, the weight WILL change while you might become obsessed with weight. In other words, it may even have a bad effect on your mental state; you might always compare your number on the scales to what you have just eaten. We should remember that a healthy way to lose extra pounds is not concentrating on numbers but on how we feel.

It’s way better to keep your mind on a healthy diet and regular exercises instead of checking in yourself every day. The optimum period is once a week. Scale yourself naked just after waking up using the same weights.

And hey, there are other techniques of tracking your results, btw! For example, track the changes in your body composition, i.e., your body's fat, muscle, and water amount. Or check how your clothing fits you. Or even use a centimeter! The main thing you should never forget is that your mental state of mind is far more important than just a number on the weights. So, when your scales show these extra 5 pounds, the chances that it is just water are high. Don’t overstress and “overscale” yourself!
